From the break of dawn, Marchesa Spring Summer 2017 draws inspiration and beauty from sunrise to twilight. From a moment the sun appears over the horizon to the deepest part of night, the day’s passage embodies Marchesa’s signature aesthetic.
Being well-known for their whimsical and feminine designs, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the designers behind Marchesa, didn’t disappoint anyone during their show at New York Fashion Week. In fact, they exceeded everyone’s expectation with this year’s collection. While the golden wheat fabrics and textures remind us of a rich harvest field at dawn, asymmetrically draped Grecian gowns with ombre chiffon reflect the sky’s seamless blend of colors change during sunset.
As the models walked down the runway, the day continued transitioning from dawn to dusk. Metallic lace and iridescent lame elements, combining with shimmering embroideries create a starry sky. Celestial-inspired gowns in gold, silver, and midnight hues personify the serenity of the night. Glassy organza and intricate embellishments add a soft, feminine touch to dramatic gowns, signifying the cycle of a day. There were cape and peplum details, seductive high-slits, cut-outs, and embellishments that glisten in the twilight.
Everything was like a fairytale-like daydream.
