The iconic Dr. Martens Spring Summer 2016 campaign #Standforsomething celebrates free-thinking individuals such as artists, subcultures and their devoted customers who have been expressing their unique styles over the years. This collection comes in a myriad of fresh shades of pastels, splashes of colors and prints as an update for their classic boots and new shapes, with lightweight materials for everyday wear as well as a larger range of sandals for the spring and summer.

For the Spring and Summer collection, Dr. Martens has added canvas as a new update on their classic boot shapes and accessories such as the backpacks and wallets that come in a wide range of colors.

The pastel collection comes in pretty shades of ivory, blue and bubblegum pink on durable Virginia leather that brings both femininity and toughness to the classic boot. It’s perfect for every woman’s spring wardrobe.

The Splash Mono and Splash Floral series has been inspired by the distinct youth culture called “Psychobilly”, which is a fusion genre of rock, punk and rockabilly music. The bands from this genre take their inspiration from horror and sci-fi films, often using slime and splat art on their posters and band artwork. Dr. Martens adopts the same splash  style on the black and white palette  and an exclusive range of floral prints.

Dr. Martens also has a limited edition series and collaboration with the legendary Welsh band, Demented Are Go, one of the pioneers and influencers of the psychobilly music scene. Two of their iconic album covers are featured on classic 1460 8-eye boot, they will look amazing on their fans and those who love gothic and punk rock prints.

Speaking of unique prints, Dr. Martens was also inspired by the 15th century Renaissance painter D’Antonio. His painting the Triumph of Camillus is featured on the 8-eye boot, 1461 shoe, satchel and T-shirt. These will be suitable for those who appreciate classical art and vintage styles.

Let’s not forget the kids who also deserve some style and fun. The Dr. Martens kids collection also has lightweight canvas updates on their boots that come with a side zip for easier wear. For footwear that’s more appropriate for school, the closed toe “Heckle and Jeckle” shoe also features a T-bar strap and side grooves. The shades for spring and summer are cherry red and navy blue, and the sizes are for babies, toddlers and juniors. The Pint Sized Punk collection for toddlers and juniors comes in bright shades of green and yellow on the classic leather boots, and a psychedelic leopard print on canvas.

It was an exciting experience to see all of the eclectic and functional updates in the Dr. Martens 2016 Preview and it was wonderful to see such a diverse range of styles to choose from. They will be available from December 2015 onwards in their stores, Dr.Martens.com and selected retailers. Don’t forget to grab yourself a pair or get them as a Christmas gift for that special someone! These shoes and accessories will a great wardrobe staple for the year ahead!
